Being in a one of the most disaster-prone regions, Bangladesh is grappling with the profound impacts of climate change. Situated in the deltaic plains of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna basin, Bangladesh faces an array of challenges exacerbated by rising sea levels, erratic weather patterns, and increasingly frequent natural disasters. Moreover, Bangladesh experiences devastating cyclones, floods, and droughts, threatening lives, livelihoods, and infrastructure. The densely populated coastal regions and vulnerable agricultural systems intensify the socio-economic ramifications of climate variability, including displacement and loss of arable land. Despite these adversities, Bangladesh demonstrates resilience and innovation, implementing adaptation and mitigation strategies to mitigate climate impacts. Against this backdrop, a group of civil society personalities of Bangladesh founded Doritry Rokkhay Amra (DHORA). DHORA recognises the urgency of addressing these challenges and is committed to championing environmental protection and resilience-building efforts across the country.
